Eland House is the headquarters building for the Department for Communities and Local Government, in Victoria, London.
The Department is working in partnership with Schneider Electric to provide public access to Eland House's energy consumption. Their external site provides a reporting tool whereby you will be able to view actual gas, electricity and water consumption, the associated costs and carbon emissions over different periods of time (see link at top right).
From this website raw energy consumption data (gas and electricity - kWh and CO2) are available to download in a comma-separated variable (csv) format.
To view other government departments' energy data, see 'data.gov.uk' in related links, top right.
The system at the Department operates in such a way that data from our main utility meters (electricity, gas and water) is captured and collected continuously. At the end of each day this data is collated and then downloaded onto the monitoring website by 2pm the following day. The continual capture of data allows us to monitor how much energy and water we are using each day, week, month etc.
To generate a report:
You can select the units you wish the data to be displayed, e.g. kWh, m 3 and CO 2 (carbon emissions). Select cost overlay to see the cost of consumption.
Comma-separated variable (CSV) format files can be generated by clicking the CSV Download button.
The costs shown have been calculated using the following rates:
Conversion factors are based on Defra and Carbon Trust 2009 guidance:
