Rough Sleeping in England

Following a public consultation in summer 2010 the Department published revised guidance on evaluating the extent of rough sleeping, available to download below. The new guidance has been used by local authorities for carrying out counts and providing robust estimates from October 2010. The Rough Sleeping Statistics England - Autumn 2010 is the first publication of annual rough sleeping statistics under this new guidance.

Figures that were collected and published previous to this new guidance are available in the Rough Sleeping England - Total Street Count and Estimates 2010 and the Rough Sleeping England - Total street count 2009 tables. These tables include previous data back to 1998.

The Rough Sleeping Statistics form used by Local Authorities to record their counts and estimates is also available for download below.
