Following consultation with users throughout 2010 we have introduced a range of efficiency savings from 2011-12 which include reductions in the overall sample by 25 per cent and in the scope of information to be collected. These will secure substantial savings while ensuring key outputs will continue to be available each year. The consultation and outcome is reported on the User Consultation page.
The English Housing Survey Headline Report 2009-10 and associated English Housing Survey Bulletin: Issue 3 were published on 24 February 2011. The Bulletin provides updates on progress with the survey as well as highlighting key findings from the report.
A full set of Household Live Tables for 2008-09 are now available. These supplement information in the Survey's Household Report and its associated annex tables published in November. Some of these tables also contain data from past years collected by the Survey of English Housing (SEH), thus providing information on change over time.
A lookup table has been added to the Live Tables page to help users of the former Survey locate equivalent English Housing Survey tables where these are available.
Tables to supplement information in the 2008 Housing Stock Report are also available.
On 16 December a summary of responses to the recent consultation on the 2011-12 Survey was published. The responses received showed a broad level of support for the majority of the cost saving measures proposed but there was considerable concern about the larger of the sample cuts being considered. Most of the proposed changes for the 2011-12 survey will therefore be adopted but the smaller of the sample cuts will be implemented. See the User Consultation page.
A series of Technical Advice notes were also published to support users of the Survey. These provide information on how the data is collected and quality assured, the sampling and weighting methodology, a glossary of terms and how some of the key derived measures are created. See the Technical background page.
A further set of papers from the recent English Housing Survey Advisory Group meeting on 5 November 2010 were also published - see How we engage with Survey users page.
Users should also be aware that the latest Survey data sets are now available at the UK Data Archive. They can be accessed from the English Housing Survey major studies web page at: http://www.esds.ac.uk/findingData/ehsTitles.asp (external link).
