Local Services Support Grant is a general grant allocated directly to local authorities as additional revenue funding to areas. It is allocated according to specific policy criteria rather than general formulae.
Local Services Support Grant will be paid as unringfenced funding under Section 31 of the Local Government Act 2003. As unringfenced funding, there are no terms and conditions attached to its payment and councils have the freedom to use it to meet their locally identified priorities. The grant will be administered and paid by the Department for Communities and Local Government through 12 monthly payments, starting in April 2012. The payments will be made on the 15th day of each month, or the next working day if the 15th falls on a weekend or public holiday.
A Grant Determination detailing individual allocations was sent to councils at the end of March 2012.
