Planning, building and the environment
National planning policy
The Department for Communities and Local Government determines national policies on different aspects of planning and the rules that govern the operation of the system.
National planning policies are set out in the National Planning Policy Framework. The Framework should be read in conjunction with the Government's planning policy for traveller sites.
This Framework does not contain specific waste policies, since national waste planning policy will be published as part of the National Waste Management Plan for England. This Framework does not contain specific policies for nationally significant infrastructure projects. National policies are also laid out in planning circulars.
