Travellers

The Government published its new planning policy for traveller sites on 23 March 2012. The policy comes into effect at the same time as the National Planning Policy Framework. The new planning policy for traveller sites should be read in conjunction with the National Planning Policy Framework.

The planning circulars Circular 01/06: Planning for Gypsy and Traveller sites and Circular 04/07: Planning for Travelling Showpeople will be cancelled when new policy comes into force.

The new planning policy for traveller sites appears below. The draft policy was published for consultation. The summary of consultation responses also appears below.
