Summary

Following the Written Minsiterial Statement made by the Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 19 July 2011, this letter sets out the Department's intention to consult in August on proposed increases to employee contribution rates for the firefighters' pension schemes in 2012-13. This letter also outlines the proposed process for further discussions on the savings to be generated in 2013-14 and 2014-15, and on the wider reforms arising from Lord Hutton's report.
