This document provides a series of National Indicators that have been updated since the Handbook of Definitions was published in April 2008. Changes include clarifications to the definitions, updated guidance on calculating the indicators and some changes to how the data will appear in the Data Interchange HUB (e.g. decimal place and return format). The relevant indicators are shown in the attached below.
Deferred and Revised Indicators - There were 13 indicators including 10 delayed indicators (NI 26, 32, 38, 54, 57, 71, 127, 128, 190 and 199) and 3 (NI 123, 130 and 137) current indicators, where the measurement was revised, that were consulted on from 28th Sept 2008 to 31st October 2008 (see below).
These indicators will be introduced from 1st April 2009 with the exception of NI 26, which based on the consultation feedback the Government has decided to defer until 2010/11 in order to develop the indicator further.
The suite of Place Survey indicators have been updated with changes made to the technical definitions. Please refer to the latest Place Survey Technical Manual (see below) for the latest set of technical definitions.
Any queries you have regarding the technical definitions of the National Indicators should be made to the Audit Commission's Performance Information Team (see link on right). The Audit Commission also publish FAQs and other resources to support local areas in the collection of these data.
Please note: Due to some omissions in the document uploaded on the 13th February 2009, the technical definitions for NIs 32, 38, 50, 69, 71, 110,115 and 199 have been updated. Technical definitions for four National Indicators have also been added to the document of Updated National Indicator Definitions and these include NI 72, 84, 92 and 116. These changes are reflected in the publications available for download below.
