This is the final research report for the project 'Fire Performance of Escape Stairs' commissioned by Communities and Local Government and carried out by BRE.
The overall aim of the project is to extend the methodology adopted in the TF2000 research project to develop guidance based on a test method that provides a realistic assessment of the fire performance of escape stairs in practice. The experimental programme was developed in consultation with a Steering Group of key stakeholders.
An experimental programme consisting of 13 fire tests has been conducted. This report contains the test methodology, results and observations from the fire tests.
A guidance document, based on the outcome of the experimental programme, can be found under the "Related publications" section. The guidance document contains a draft method of test and assessment with a summary of the main results from the experimental programme.
