Summary

This is the guidance document to the final research report for the project 'Fire Performance of Escape Stairs' commissioned by Communities and Local Government and carried out by BRE.

The guidance document contains a draft method of test and assessment with a summary of the main results from the experimental programme. The test and assessment procedures outlined have been drawn up in collaboration with key stakeholders who have played an active role through participation in the project Steering Group.

The final research report can be found under the "Related publications" section. This report contains the test methodology, results and observations from the fire tests.
