Summary

This Impact Assessment sets out proposed changes to the way in which applicants demonstrate compliance with Part M (Access to and use of buildings) of the Building Regulations and provides an analysis of associated costs and benefits.

The proposed changes support a risk based approach to demonstrating compliance by moving away from reliance on written access statements.

This Impact Assessment is a supporting document for Section one of the 2012 Building Regulations consultation, which can be found below in the "Related publications" section.
