Summary

This Impact Assessment sets out changes to the fire protection provisions in Local Acts and provides an analysis of the associated costs and benefits.

These changes will remove discretionary powers that currently exist for some local authorities in England to impose requirements for fire protection, which are in addition to those required by Building Regulations.

This Impact Assessment supports Section one of the 2012 Building Regulations consultation which can be found below in the "Related publications" section.
