Summary

Statistics based on the Urban Settlements boundaries (England and Wales, 2001) data. These boundaries and the statistics based upon them are collected every ten years following a national census. The 2001 statistics have previously been made available in part. Due to interest and use within the local authority national indicator set they are now being released as a consolidated set.

The statistics provide the total area of Developed Land and Urban Area (developed land with a population of more than 10,000) for each local authority in England. Also included are areas and population for each individual settlement in England and Wales.
